There are four primary ways to reach the Little Colorado River at the bottom of the 56-mile gorge on foot:
- Walk all the way down from the bridge at Cameron, AZ
- Salt Trail (most popular)
- Horse Trail
- Beamer Trail (via the National Park)
A handful of other routes exist, the two most notable being:
- Blue Springs Trail
- Walter Powell Route
For a few years, I thought that was it. Other than rafting, helicopter or parachute, I thought those were the only ways in.
I learned recently that a handful of other obscure (but tested) routes into the gorge exist further upstream, closer to Cameron for the most part.
